4D Printers

Pilonia design and manufacture the next generation of 4D/3D printers and use nanomaterials to improve the modern construction process. We use 4D printers because we have control over the 3D printing area but can also control a fourth dimension. This is the composition of the printed shells by adding nanomaterials to uniquely address location-specific construction needs. For example - if the climate is hot, we add an insulating nanomaterial. If the area is prone to flooding, we add a water-resistant nanomaterial, etc. By using 2D materials, our process is not only accurate and fast, but we can also print improved housing and infrastructure that is stronger, more flexible, suffers less cracking and benefits from water, sun and saltwater resistance.
The printer can be expanded to include a high-pressure washer and a supply station for synchronized mortar mixes. The basic configuration comes with a control computer with pre-installed licensed software. The printer prints basic construction mixes on the cement series 400-500 and can use mixes with mineral and 2D materials.

specifications

Pilonia S7.1

  • Construction large-format printer, for printing buildings, large blocks and infrastructure elements from cement-based mixtures.
  • The modular design of the printer allows a print area within 1330 cubic meters, depending on the tasks.
  • It is possible to print below the zero mark along the Z axis, which implies the possibility of printing “from the ground” and does not require work on separate manufacture and alignment of the foundation.
  • The software allows you to manage and monitor from any device running linux, windows, android, ios, macos.

FAQ

What are the advantages of 3D printing over traditional construction technologies?
  • The process of building houses with 3D printing is several times faster compared to traditional construction technologies.
  • The "human factor” is minimized.
  • Reduced construction costs due to lower costs of labor.
  • You can print wide variety of shapes.
Why do you use a 4D printer?
We use 4D because we have control over the 3D printing area but also can control a fourth dimension, which is the composition of the printed shells by adding nanomaterials to uniquely address location-specific construction needs. For example - if the climate is hot, we add an insulating nanomaterial. If the area is prone to flooding, we add a water-resistant nanomaterial, etc.
How many floors can I build with your printer?
The printing height our printer accommodates is 26 ft. (8m), which allows you to build structures up to three stories high.
Can I use your equipment to build foundations?
You can build certain types of foundations using our printer.
What other applications can be printed with a 4D/3D printer?
Our vision is that 4D/3D printers can be utilized not only for housing, but also for other applications like printing pipes, bridges, infrastructure, landscaping, cemeteries, etc.
Is there any limitation in sq. ft. by 4D/3D printing?
There is no limitation on print size, except for the height. The printer can be relocated from site to site. You can also use the printer to print prefabricated parts of the house or any developments.
Is there any AI or data collection?
All information from the printer and mixing units can be updated and stored in a database.
What is the remote control of your 4D/3D printer or mixing units?
All our units have data collections and cameras, as well as access with permission of the owner remotely, so we can fix and diagnose software issues online, as well as collect data.
Can mortar be produced locally?
It is possible to produce Pilonia mortar locally.
What is the construction speed?
The speed of construction depends on several factors, such as weather conditions, availability of materials, and complexity of the architectural design. The usual turnaround time is a few dozen machine hours.
How much does a printer cost?
The price of the printer depends on its size and delivery times — calculated separately for each case. Please contact our sales department for an exact quote.
How can I prepare a house model for printing?
Despite the apparent simplicity, it is a complex architectural structure, and calculations must be done by specialists. You can submit your design ideas to our specialists, and they will run all the necessary calculations and create design documents and a house model for printing.
